Lufthansa boss “infiltrates” crew on flight from Germany to Saudi Arabia

The CEO of the German airline Lufthansa shared on his social networks a work experience typical of the TV show El Jefe Infiltrado. Managing Director Jens Ritter was one of the flight attendants on a plane that flew overnight from Frankfurt Airport to Baherin Airport, with a stopover in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The general manager served drinks to the passengers along with the rest of the crew and described the experience as “interesting and challenging”.

Ritter, head of the Lufthansa brand but not of the group (head of the group is Carsten Spohr), has published a post on the LinkedIn network in which he explains the reason for this activity. “I’ve been working for Lufthansa for years and have never done anything like this before. […]”The team welcomed me immediately and I enjoyed every moment!”

On the outward journey, Ritter visited Business Class and on the return journey, Economy Class. Actually, Ritter is no stranger to working on airplanes, albeit not as a flight attendant. He worked as a pilot for Lufthansa for almost 12 years and mainly flew the Airbus A330 and A340. He and Spohr have that in common, because Spohr also has his commercial pilot’s license, although he hasn’t spent that much time in the cockpit.

In his message, Ritter explains that he is surprised “at everything that needs to be organized, especially when things don’t go as planned; For example, the meals offered on the menu cards didn’t exactly match the meals loaded on board.” The manager also emphasized how difficult it is to respond to travelers’ needs in the middle of the night “when your biological clock is just telling you to sleep should”.

Ritter isn’t the first airline CEO to do something like this. A few months ago, a passenger on a KLM flight posted a photo on Facebook showing the group’s leader, Marjan Rintle, at work as a flight attendant.
