Pascal Rheaume leaves the Lions

Quebecois Pascal Rheaume will ultimately not lead the Trois-Rivières Lions as he left the organization to spend next season in the American League (AHL), leaving Ron Choules as head coach and general manager.

Rhéaume was appointed to succeed Marc-André Bergeron on June 22 after he resigned. However, it seems the 50-year-old has more interesting projects in mind. In a press release, the Lions stated that he is waiving his responsibilities as he has received a “promotion that will allow him to advance within an AHL team.”

“When an AHL team accepts a member of our organization, it’s a sign that we’ve done our job well at recruiting,” said Dean MacDonald, president of Deacon Sports and Entertainment, without naming the education that hired shall be. Rheaume. These changes mark a turning point for the team and demonstrate our commitment to growth and excellence on and off the ice. We congratulate Pascal on this new chapter and wish him all the best in this new adventure.”

In addition, Mathieu Brodeur took over as assistant coach after retiring from hockey last spring. Alex Cousineau will serve as Assistant GM. The Lions have seen a lot of upheaval in the last few months. Notably, Éric Bélanger started the 2022–2023 season as manager, but left the team later in the year and Bergeron took over.
