Pregnant Roxy Horner reveals she needs crutches amid third-trimester struggles with SPD as she prepares for the birth of her first child with Jack Whitehall

Roxy Horner has revealed she needs crutches after admitting she was in “excruciating” pain during the third trimester of her pregnancy.

The 32-year-old model is currently eight months pregnant with her first child, daughter of Jack Whitehall, and is counting down the days until her due date.

Roxy shared a mirror selfie on Instagram on Wednesday, showing that she now uses a crutch and a pregnancy belt.

She showed off her growing belly in a red polka dot mini dress and wore her blonde locks in a bun.

She captioned the snap, “I’m still trying to look cute even though I have no intention of leaving the house.”

Roxy has now opened up about her health struggles in the last trimester of her pregnancy, saying she was in “excruciating” pain.

In her Instagram stories, she revealed on Monday evening that she was struggling with pelvic pain due to symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD).

SPD is common in pregnancy and is a collection of uncomfortable symptoms caused by pelvic joint stiffness or uneven joint movement.

Roxy revealed that during her struggles with SPD, she experienced pain when walking or making other movements and said her mother, Lisa Rae, took care of her.

She explained, “Thank god my mom took care of me this last trimester.” I don’t really know what I would have done without her.

“It wasn’t easy getting everything ready for the baby with SPD, but my mum really helped me organize things last week and I’m starting to feel a little more comfortable with it.”

“I can’t wait to have a baby girl here and I don’t feel that way anymore. It’s really unbearable to walk or move properly, but it doesn’t last long and apparently all SPD symptoms go away once Bubba is there.”

Roxy also shared a black and white video showing her baby bump and how a maternity belt helped her manage her symptoms.

“Also, I just got myself a pregnancy belt, which helped a lot with SPD. I would highly recommend any pregnant woman to get one asap to avoid pelvic pain,” she added.

Roxy then shared a selfie of herself lying in bed while thanking her fans for their support and opening up about how she’d “ignored” her painful symptoms for a long time.

She continued, “I’m so thankful for my female followers!” It seems many of you have also suffered from SPD and can relate.

“From what I’ve learned so far, if you’re experiencing pain during pregnancy, you should get it checked out because I’ve ignored my pain for too long and thought it was perfectly normal boy might just fall out!

“Even sleeping is difficult, but I’ve been told that the best thing to do with SPD is to get as much rest as possible, get a pregnancy belt, pregnancy pillow, pain relievers, and see a physical therapist!” Me hope this helps anyone else going through the same thing.”

WHAT IS SPD?

Some women may experience abdominal pain during pregnancy. This is sometimes referred to as pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PGP) or pubic symphysis disorder (SPD).

PGP is a collection of uncomfortable symptoms caused by stiffness in your pelvic joints, or uneven movement of the joints at the back or front of your pelvis.

PGP is not harmful to your baby, but it can be painful and make it difficult to move.

Women with PGP may experience pain over the center front of the pubic bone, about at hip level and/or on one or both sides of your lower back.

Diagnosing it as early as possible can help keep pain to a minimum and prevent long-term discomfort.

You may be referred to a physical therapy service that specializes in obstetric pelvic problems.

The goals of physical therapy are to relieve or reduce pain, improve muscle function, and improve the position and stability of your pelvic joints.

Earlier this month, Roxy revealed that she was feeling “stressed” and “exhausted” in the last trimester of her pregnancy.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Roxy, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2021, revealed she was suffering from “extreme pain” and “terrible insomnia.”

But after suffering a miscarriage last year, Roxy said she is “counting her blessings” and can’t wait to welcome her “little girl” into the world.

She began, “Last trimester … The last few weeks have been a test for me, they’ve been really, really tough.”

“I thought the first trimester was tough. Like the disease, I vomited about eight times a day. I was throwing up every day until the fifth or sixth month.

“And then I had this brief moment where I was like, ‘Oh! I’m actually fine again!”

“And now I literally can’t remember the last time I slept. I’m not kidding, I really am not. So yes, pregnancy is difficult for some people and I am very jealous of those who are enjoying their pregnancy.”

After her brief rant, Roxy once again took to social media to further clarify her points.

She explained, “Regarding my previous post, I just wanted to show some honesty. Of course I’ve posted beautiful moments with my belly and I can’t wait to meet our little girl, but I think it’s also important for me to be transparent.

“I’m in a lot of pain, especially if I walk or stand for too long, and the insomnia is terrible because I’m so uncomfortable.”

“I have a hard time doing anything because I’m exhausted, which is frustrating when we have so much to do before the baby comes.”

“I’m stressed and sleep deprived and I still have the odd day or two where I get sick and throw up even though I’m eight months pregnant.”

“But at the same time, I’m smiling because I’m SO excited that our little girl is here and we have a little mover here, which is a great sign and reminds me of why I’m going through all this.”

“I have no idea why some people have comfortable, uncomplicated pregnancies and others have so much difficulty, but the end result is something beautiful, so that’s all that matters.”

Roxy and Jack are counting down the days until they give birth to their first child together and have already revealed they are expecting a baby girl.

The couple have been together for more than two years and live with their pooch Coco in a £17.5million five-bedroom house in Notting Hill.
