US Open: Eugenie Bouchard will not play in the main draw

Despite a good performance against Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska in the second qualifying round for the United States Tennis Open on Thursday, Eugenie Bouchard lost in three sets 6-1, 4-6 and 6-4.

It’s a disappointment for “Genie”, who is ranked 216th on the WTA Tour, as she appears to have picked up the pace against the 111th racquet in the world. However, the winner broke in the fifth game of the deciding set and kept the lead to the end. As such, Bouchard will have to wait until she returns to the main draw at Flushing Meadows, which she has not competed in since 2019.

During the 2 hours and 07 minutes, each player benefited from eleven break chances and Yastremska took four of them while her opponent benefited from two.

On the men’s side, Canada’s Vasek Pospisil meets American Zachary Svajda later in the day in a duel in the second qualifying round.
