A Texas woman recounts a moment when a speeding car threw a huge strip of metal through her front AND rear windshield, nearly killing her
- Megan Lahoun was driving on the Eastex Freeway near the Highway 242 exit when her windshield was hit by a flying metal object identified as part of an engine
- Her dashcam camera captured footage of two vehicles entering and exiting traffic at high speed and passing in front of her prior to the incident
- The windshield of Lahoun’s Jeep was shattered and although she was injured, she said that “death gripped the wheel” and she managed to drive home
A Texas woman shared her near-death experience after a speeding car threw a huge strip of metal through her front and rear windshields, nearly killing her.
Megan Lahoun was driving alone in her white Jeep Wrangler on Friday down the Eastex Freeway and listening to music on the radio when she noticed through her rearview mirror two vehicles shearing in and out of traffic at high speeds near the Highway 242 exit.
As she drove, she saw a pickup truck sped past her and seconds later another car, a Toyota RAV4, sped in front of her. Within seconds, flying debris and what appeared to be parts of a car engine slammed straight into Lahoun’s lane and into her windshield.
The metal object, which appeared to be part of an engine and weighed more than 10 pounds, shattered the windshield, knocking her dashcam camera over before smashing through the rear window and landing in the back of her truck
Lahoun, who suffered injuries to her face and upper body, told KHOU News she “gripped the steering wheel tightly and drove home as best I could.” It was reminiscent of the 2003 horror film Final Destination 2 , in which logs falling from an 18-wheel truck smashed through car windshields, decapitating their drivers and causing a huge, fatal pile-up.

After the horrific ordeal, she told the news outlet she “didn’t realize how badly I was shaking until I got to a traffic light in Splendora.” “My foot was just shaking.”
She said the vehicles “crossed three lanes.”
Footage from inside her car shows broken glass on Lahoun’s lap and on the floor and seat of her vehicle.
“It’s in my mouth. There’s a splinter in my eye,” she is heard saying.
Lahoun, grateful to have survived, called the drivers “reckless” and said, “I could have died.”
“If they hadn’t been racing, this wouldn’t have happened,” she told KHOU. “We could have avoided it. Anyone could have pulled to the side of the road and avoided him.
Lahoun, who shared that she loves fast cars and thrills, also pointed out the dangers of racing, adding that it’s “the most idiotic thing you can do.”
“I love driving. “I had a Camaro that I love to race in,” she said, among other things: “If that piece of debris had been six inches to the left, I don’t think we would be here.”
She wants the drivers to pay for what they did, literally the $1,000 it will now cost her to fix her Jeep.
She also filed a complaint with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and hopes the driver will come forward and redeem himself.
