23 years ago, Angèle Dubeau founded La Fête de la Musique de Tremblant. “I wanted to offer local artists an important, different and accessible presentation in a majestic setting,” explains the violinist and artistic director, as enthusiastic as he was on day one. This year, 25 free concerts will be presented there, from 1um until September 4th.
Angèle Dubeau is proud of the Tremblant Music Festival’s longevity and audience loyalty over the years. Last year, 50,000 people came to take part in this music weekend.
“The 23rd edition is a recipe that I know well,” explains the main prospect. I wanted to provide a platform for our greatest artists and showcase artists of all genres in the spirit of excellence. Got variety, variety and quality. Everything completely barrier-free. »
His two ultimate goals? May all these musicians who meet vibrate with and through art, and may the prejudices and labels that are often attached to music, especially classical music, cease.
“The artists have the heart to celebrate and so do I. It’s an extraordinary moment of sharing,” adds the violinist, who will release her 48th album this fall, a work dedicated to the work of Philip Glass.
For them, this long Labor Day weekend, which is marked by so many discoveries and musical surprises, is a “last tip for the summer”.
magical moments
Last year, his duet with Daniel Bélanger thrilled festival-goers in an unforgettable way. Can we expect so much magic this year?
” Oh yes ! From the beginning, Sunday night has been for me that privileged moment on stage, allowing myself surprises and small magical and unique moments that I want to create. This year it’s the great lady of the song, Diane Juster , which will be surrounded by the ladies of the Pietà. We will cover it with our violins. It will be full of emotions, I guarantee it. »
Angèle Dubeau also invited Iza Kamnitzer, a young 8-year-old violinist, to join her on stage. “It’s technology at the service of music. She puts her whole being into every note she plays, she’s extraordinary,” she says.
For the first time at the Fête de la Musique, the popular pianist Jean-Michel Blais presents the compositions of his latest album Aubade in string quartet format on Friday evening in the village hall. This will no doubt evoke more magical moments.
On Saturday, in addition to song and dance, Yves Lambert will “always affirm his Québecitude in a passionate, open and creative way” in the public square and offer La Fête au Village. “A unique concert full of diverse sound textures for an evening where our folklore will be the focus.”
One of the most anticipated and intimate moments will take place at the Quebecor public piano; where Angèle Dubeau invites songwriters to entertain passers-by in an informal way at a piano. This year will be Charles-Richard Hamelin from Quebec, one of the most sought-after pianists in the world, winner of second prize at the prestigious XVII. International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition.
“He will come and tell his story under a tent,” explains the violinist. Everyone gathers around the artist and he opens up, for example telling what might have inspired him while playing excerpts. It’s an exchange and there are privileged moments. »
On Monday, young students — or young graduates from the Montreal Conservatory of Music — were invited to play a variety of instruments. Among them was 24-year-old violinist Marion Portelance from Quebec, who attended the coronation concert for King Charles last May.
“You have to open the children’s horizons, the magic of the music will do the rest,” says Angèle Dubeau, who makes it a point to offer various activities for children on the site.
