Police received a call about dozens of firearms believed to be in a hotel room on the afternoon of Aug. 21, the Toronto City Police Service said in a statement.
Hotel staff reportedly found three guns in the Don Mills area before calling police.
Authorities later found 25 others after obtaining a search warrant for the room in question.
“These guns were 100% destined for the streets of Toronto,” Toronto Police Commissioner Steve Watts said at a news conference. Because of this seizure, they cannot be used to kill or seriously injure people.”
The suspect, 30-year-old Ottawa native Ahmed Farah, was arrested by authorities.
He faces 136 charges, including possession of prohibited firearms despite knowing he did not have a license, possession of firearms for sale and possession of firearms with a tampered with serial number.
