Globo decided to cancel The Voice Brasil. After eleven seasons, the channel will produce the last series of episodes, the twelfth since arriving in Brazil, still in this second half, with Fátima Bernardes as host, but the attraction is unlikely to come back on the market in 2024. Repercussions in recent years have been major factors in the musical appeal going out of thin air.
The information was initially provided by the Twitter profile Eplay and confirmed by f5, What had access to the promotional pack sent to the promotional market and provided information on the last season of the attraction. “In 2023, the show returns for its twelfth and final season. The franchise, created in 2010 in the Netherlands, spread all over the world and conquered everyone’s hearts. After eleven seasons, the Brazilian version returns with its final season,” the document reads.
When contacted, Globo confirmed the information. “In 2023, ‘The Voice Brasil’ will enter its 12th and final season. From November the new edition will be released, broadcast on Tuesdays and Thursdays and featuring Fátima Bernardes, which promises many emotions, with news, surprises, special guests and tributes to the most remarkable moments in the history of the ‘Voice’ family the broadcaster’s press release.
In 2020, the attraction even lost on season average to reality A Fazenda 12, then commanded by Marcos Mion on Record. In 2022, Fátima Bernardes’ debut in the São Paulo metropolitan area only managed 15 viewership points, its worst since 2013. Each point represents 207,000 people in the São Paulo capital.
Since its debut on Brazilian television in 2012, the show has had 22 episodes. On average, it’s two a year. In addition to the eleven traditional seasons, there were eight from The Voice Kids and two more from The Voice + with older singers. In 2023, The Voice Kids was also shown alongside the traditional version in the first half. Voice+ has been cancelled.
Another weighing factor was low commercial demand for the traditional 2022 edition and this year’s children’s version. Even with Fátima, The Voice only had two sponsors in 2022, a number considered low by Globo standards. The Voice Kids only had one, far fewer than in previous years.
There is no information yet on what actions Globo will take in lieu of the program to complete its schedule.
