X Corp. CEO Elon Musk and Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg will brief U.S. Senators on artificial intelligence next month.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has asked Musk and Zuckerberg to speak at the futures forum, Fox Business has learned. Schumer has been on AI talks for the past three months.
The event is scheduled for September 13th. Other speakers include OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
Musk met Schumer back in April to talk about AI and told reporters the talk was “good.”

“We talked about the future,” Musk said after the meeting. “We talked about AI and the economy.”

These participants represent big players in the increasingly important AI sector.
OpenAI, powered by Microsoft, is the company responsible for ChatGPT, an AI chatbot that has been hugely popular since it was first publicly available in late 2022.
Google operates Bard, a competitor to ChatGPT, and has added AI capabilities to many of its products.

Meta Platforms is also working on AI efforts of its own, including the Llama 2 model, which it announced in July it “will make available for free for research and commercial use.”

Musk officially introduced xAI in July. This AI-focused company will operate with the mission of “understanding the true nature of the universe.” Tesla, the electric vehicle maker that the billionaire runs, is also researching AI.
Musk, who helped found OpenAI, previously said he believes “we should have some sort of regulatory oversight over the technology.”
