Severed human leg found in New York just days after the torso was found in a shopping cart.

A human leg was found in a trash can in Brooklyn on Monday, just days after a woman’s dismembered torso was found in a shopping cart a few blocks away.

Police said the man was walking down Jamaica Avenue in the Cypress Hills neighborhood around 3:30 p.m. when he noticed what turned out to be a severed limb sticking out of a discarded tire.

According to PIX11, the leg was cut below the knee and the leg had a sock on it.

The gruesome find was made less than four blocks from where police found a torso without a head, arms or legs last Thursday.

Human remains belonging to an unidentified woman were found in a large bag in a grocery store cart abandoned near the intersection of Pennsylvania and Atlantic streets last Thursday.

Police are not officially linking the two grim discoveries, ABC 7 NY reports.

The medical examiner’s office is working on identifying the person the leg belonged to, and identification of the torso is also still pending.

An investigation into the successive discoveries of human remains on the streets of Brooklyn comes amid a huge surge in crime in New York City.

The female corpse was found in a garbage bag without a head and limbs by a passerby on Pennsylvania and Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn around 1:45 am Thursday.

The woman was found in a trash bag similar to these around 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

The man reportedly saw a trash bag in a shopping cart and decided to take it, but when he looked inside, he made a horrifying discovery.

Police said the woman had no gunshot or visible stab wounds, nor any identifying marks such as tattoos. The body also did not decompose, police said.

Precinct 75 determined it was an adult woman’s body and said the medical examiner would determine her cause of death and possibly identify her by DNA.

Authorities are now examining CCTV footage in hopes of identifying the woman’s assailant, and the incident is being investigated, but locals are concerned about safety.

Local student Cynthia Jimenez said they don’t feel safe in the city, telling ABC 7: “They say New York is the dream, the American dream, but I don’t feel safe.”

Sung Hong, a 64-year-old South Korean construction shop owner, said the news of the beheading heightened his concerns about rising crime in New York, especially against Asian Americans.

“It’s getting worse and worse,” he told The New York Times. “I do not know what’s going on. It’s like people are crazy.”

Local resident Violente Rodriguez told ABC 7, “Oh my God Jesus Christ because no one is safe here right now, I don’t know what to do because I work around the corner.”

Last year, hate crimes among Asian Americans increased by 343 percent, with 133 attacks.

A few days ago, a blond homeless army veteran was arrested on suspicion of racist attacks on seven Asian women. He allegedly insulted NYPD cops after his arrest.

Steven Zajonc, 28, was arrested for the February 27 attack on Wednesday after barricading himself in a bathroom at the New York Public Library and causing a standoff with police.

His alleged attacks come after a series of high-profile attacks on Asian Americans in recent weeks – two of them fatal. Asian grandmother Gui Ying Ma, 61, passed away last week after a three-month struggle to recover her brain after being hit in the face by a stone during a street attack in New York City.
