The first trailer for David Fincher’s new thriller The Killer is finally here, giving fans a glimpse into the film’s mysterious plot.
Michael Fassbender and Charles Parnell star in Fincher’s neo-noir film, which tells the story of an assassin on the brink. The film is based on Alexis Nolent’s French graphic novel series and adapted by Fincher’s Fight Club screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker. Tilda Swinton, Arliss Howard and Sophie Charlotte star alongside Fassbender and Parnell.
The Killer is slated for release in select theaters on October 28. The film will start streaming on Netflix on November 10th. The film marks the director’s latest appearance on Netflix, having executive produced films such as ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Mindhunter’, as well as directing the feature film ‘Mank’.
Paramount Pictures acquired the rights to The Killer in 2007 and announced that Fincher would direct. In 2007, Nolent, who writes under the pseudonym Matz, spoke to Newsarama about his graphic novel. “An assassin is a character who enables such matters to be dealt with without apology and without prejudice,” he said. “And that allows us to tell a story based on both his state of mind and his actions.”
Fassbender, who plays the unnamed hitman, has been off screens lately, having started car racing in 2017. He was last seen in the 2019 film X-Men: Dark Phoenix as Erik Lehnsherr alongside Sophie Turner and James McAvoy. Charles Parnell starred in Top Gun: Maverick in 2022 and in Bill Hader’s TV series Barry.
