Land away from the green belt offered for sale

Land away from the green belt offered for sale | Greater Toronto Area: Redesigning the Green Belt

One of the lots removed from the greenbelt was put up for sale by its owner, prompting the province to urge other owners that their land could return to the greenbelt if they don’t build homes quickly.

The owner of houses at 765 and 775 Kingston Road East in Ajax has put his 58-acre property near Highway 401 up for sale, according to Prime Minister Doug Ford’s office. The land was selected for the construction of houses.

The landlord’s behavior is at odds with everything the province is trying to do to improve home ownership, Prime Minister’s spokeswoman Ivana Yelich said.

Our government is examining all options available to us, even to quickly begin the process of returning land to the Belt, the spokeswoman said.

The province expects owners to show progress by the end of 2023 and begin construction by 2025.

According to the Ontario Auditor General’s report, the property at 765 and 775 Kingston Road East is owned by Ontario Inc, company number 2615898, which has its registered office in Richmond Hill.
