Matthew Bergeron has secured a position with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Georgian team returned its 53-player squad on Tuesday and the Quebecer’s name is among the offensive players.

With Matt Hennessy’s injury early in training camp, the door opened for Bergeron at left defense. Hennessy, a three-year veteran, will miss the entire season.

The Falcons’ first game this season is September 10th against the Carolina Panthers. Although Atlanta has not yet confirmed the identity of its starting players, the Quebecer is expected to be used in the first week of activity.

Bergeron, a Victoriaville native, was drafted in the 2nd round this year, 38th overall.

He played in high school for the Vicas de Victoriaville, at the collegiate level for the Filons de Thetford and in the NCAA for the Syracuse Orange.

Sidy Sow is staying with the Pats

It’s not just Bergeron who will represent Quebec in the NFL this season, as Sidy Sow was selected from the New England Patriots’ 53-player roster.

The Bromont native was drafted by the Pats in the 4th round and went 117th overall at the 2023 auction.

The offensive lineman attended Champlain College before making the jump to the NCAA team with Eastern Michigan.

Sow is expected to begin the season in a reserve role behind veteran Riley Reiff. He will make his NFL debut on September 10th against the Philadelphia Eagles.
