NYCFC still has CF Montreal’s number

Apparently, New York City FC (NYCFC) is still in top form in the game against CF Montreal.

On Wednesday evening at Yankee Stadium, the Big Apple Club defeated head coach Hernan Losado’s team 2-0. Check out the highlights above.

It was the 12th time that NYCFC defeated the Montreal team in 19 games, including playoff games, as both teams played in Major League Soccer (MLS). In addition, CF Montreal was only able to achieve two small victories against this team.

In today’s duel, the crowd favorite took the lead in the 29th minute. The 21-year-old American made a great move to beat defender Gabriele Corbo. The young man then shot from the left, which deceived the alertness of goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois.

NYCFC did it again eight minutes later, through the foot of Algerian Monsef Bakrar. The striker won his battle against Joel Waterman and finished the job. It was his first success in the MLS; he played his third game there.

After the half-time break, CF Montreal put a lot of pressure on their opponents. However, the guests were unable to take advantage and could do nothing but admit defeat.

The Bleu Blanc Noir players fired 13 shots at the opponent’s goal, but only 3 reached the target.

With the win, NYCFC ended a five-game winning streak in MLS. The New York club’s last regular season win was on July 1 against the Montrealers at Stade Saputo.

In the midst of the race for a playoff spot, CF Montreal is still in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with 35 points. Losada’s team is now four points behind seventh-place Nashville SC.
