Santiago de Chile. A delegation from Cuba is taking part today in the funeral ceremony for the President of the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh), Guillermo Teillier, which is taking place in this capital.
The representation will be led by Humberto Camilo Hernández, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and head of the Cadre Department.
It also consists of José Ángel Maury, the American coordinator of the international relations department of this political organization, and the Cuban ambassador to Chile, Mercedes Vicente.
The officials took part in a solemn ceremony in the Hall of Honor of the former headquarters of the National Congress and then joined the procession that went through several streets and avenues of Santiago to the general cemetery.
A farewell to the famous leader is planned at the Peace Square of the capital’s necropolis with the participation of prominent artists and political interventions, the CCP reported in a statement.
Teillier, who had held the organization’s top leadership since 2005, died on August 29 as a result of Covid-19, which had required him to be hospitalized several times since December last year.
