Seahawks Reshuffle Training Team Bring Back Jon Rhattigan Field

“Seahawks Reshuffle Training Team, Bring Back Jon Rhattigan – Field Gulls”.

The Seattle Seahawks continue to make tch-tch-tch-tch changes to the practice squad, and just when it seemed like Jon Rhattigan was out, he’s actually back.

Seattle has signed the former Army linebacker to the 16-man roster, as well as recently fired former Los Angeles Rams cornerback Robert Rochell. The two players removed from the practice roster were quarterback Holton Ahlers and offense lineman Greg Eiland.

Rhattigan actually made the 53-man initial roster on Tuesday, but was waived on Wednesday to make room for linebacker Drake Thomas, who was claimed off waivers by the Las Vegas Raiders. When Rhattigan was unclaimed, it seemed logical to think he would fill a vacant spot on the training team. Instead, former Bengals OL Ben Brown got the spot, making it briefly look like Jon would be a free agent.

Rochell was drafted by the Rams in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. At 6’1″ and 5’9″, he fits the typical profile of a Seahawks cornerman. After making five starts as a rookie before ending the year on IR, Rochell quickly fell out of favor in 2022, playing just 26 defensive snaps all season, but he did see plenty of action on special teams.

The current training squad looks like this:

  • RB Bryant Koback
  • RB SaRodorick Thompson
  • WR Cade Johnson
  • WR Matt Landers
  • WR Easop Winston
  • TE Tyler Mabry
  • C Joey Hunt
  • NT Matt Gotel
  • OLB Levi Bell
  • LB Patrick O’Connell
  • CB Artie Burns
  • CB Lance Boykin
  • S Ty Okada
  • CB Robert Rochell
  • LB Jon Rhattigan
