Ellie Goulding has shared a cryptic post about “accepting the present and moving on” following the collapse of her marriage to husband Caspar Jopling.

On Friday, the 36-year-old singer uploaded a poem by Diego Perez titled “The Way Forward” to Instagram.

This comes after Ellie was pictured with Zac Goldsmith, a millionaire Tory colleague who resigned in July. According to sources, the two are on “friendly terms.”

The poem read, “It’s only hard because you keep choosing to carry it.”

“Embrace change, loosen your sense of identity, allow yourself to forge a new path.”

“You don’t have to ignore or erase the past, you just have to fully embrace the present and move on.”

Chron previously revealed that Ellie and her art dealer husband Caspar Jopling, 31, have been living separate lives for at least six months, although they have tried to stay together for the sake of their two-year-old son Arthur.

But after weeks of discussions about how they would disclose their split, the pop star’s team finally revealed in July that they had spent time apart – blaming their “hectic schedules” for the breakdown of their marriage.

The news comes almost four years after the star-studded wedding at York Minster in 2019, with guests including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, James Blunt, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.

Zac is also in a split marriage, and a divorce from his second wife Alice, after more than a decade together, is expected soon.

But the stronger common bond between the two is their passion for the environment. They first met in November 2021 at the UN climate conference COP26 in Glasgow and remained in touch.

Seven months later they were spotted having lunch together at upscale cafe The Garden in Covent Garden, central London, and later at The Wolseley restaurant in Mayfair.

In October 2022, they spent the evening at the same party at London’s exclusive members’ club LouLou’s at 5 Hertford Street and just a few weeks later they met again in Egypt for the next global climate summit, COP27.

The singer wrote about the event in the Guardian, praising her friend: “I’m attending a dinner with environment ministers and their teams from around the world, convened by British politician Zac Goldsmith.”

“You could tell they were tired, but they kept going.” “What amazes me about this group is that they never stop advocating for better stewardship of nature.”

A friend told The Mail on Sunday: “Ellie and Zac have a shared interest in saving the environment.” They obviously know each other and talk about their environmental work. They come from very different backgrounds but have developed a friendship.”

A spokesman for Ellie said: “To say that Ellie speaks to Zac Goldsmith outside of work is completely untrue.”

Mr. Goldsmith declined to comment.
