(Gatineau) An officer with the Service de Police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPGV) is facing charges for acts he allegedly committed while off duty last June.

The management of the SPVG announced on Friday that one of its employees, Stéphane Lizotte, was accused of obstructing the work of police officers and of making threats to cause death or bodily harm.
According to a news release from the Gatineau Police Department, this charge stems from an event on June 12th. SPVG agents had to intervene after reporting to their drunken colleague.
Lizotte was then escorted home by police after ensuring no crime had been committed.
Once upon a time in his house, “while the SPVG police officers had the necessary reasons to carry out a preventive search of his residence to ensure that no firearm was stored there, the situation deteriorated,” reports the Outaouais police.
In order to call for backup, officers from the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais police arrested the man.
Police from the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais conducted an investigation which led to charges being filed by the Director of Criminal and Prosecution.
The SPVG mentions that Lizotte was suspended with pay for the duration of the proceedings.
