A Florida woman in her 30s has lived with a tattoo that covered most of her face for more than a decade. Now she’s taken matters into her own hands and removed her tattoo with the help of a man she didn’t know.
Taylor White was just 21 years old when someone tattooed offensive words on her face without her consent, the New York Post reported. To hide them, she had no choice but to cover them with black ink.
The horror happened on the evening of his 21st birthday. Her abusive boyfriend at the time took her to a bar to give her a drink. He then allegedly dragged him to a hotel room, and White couldn’t remember what happened next. All she remembered was waking up the next morning with obscenities written all over her face.
Having a tattoo has harmed him in many aspects of his life, especially professionally. The thirty-year-old, who recently began a career in mental health, has had great difficulty finding employment. The rejection based on her appearance hurt her deeply.
She suffers from Bipolar 2 and told the New York Post that she “understands that her appearance is very different and that she may be able to attract the attention of someone suffering from their own illness.”
While Karridy Askenasy shared his experience on TikTok, she, touched by his story, reached out to him and offered to cover the cost of laser tattoo removal.
“The issues she faced obviously had a personal impact on her,” Mr. Askenasy told the New York newspaper.
For Taylor White, she was finally ready to let go of the lingering reminder of her painful past, so much so that she “smiled” despite the sensation of the laser during her first ablation session in August.
“I won’t be kidnapped [ce tatouage] purely for aesthetic reasons,” she said. “It’s really about removing a part of me that I no longer represent and live in.”
