Chaos in Tel Aviv, unrest and violence in the Eritrean district. Dozens injured

TEL AVIV – A chaotic situation emerged today in the popular Nevè Shaanan neighborhood (south of Tel Aviv) as hundreds of Eritrean citizens committed violence and vandalism. The police have called in massive reinforcements and the number of injured is over 35, including many officers. On streets where accidents occur more often, police are advising people to stay indoors.
The violence began with violent clashes between supporters of the Eritrean government and opponents. The accidents then spread to surrounding streets and the police had to order emergency measures.

The total number of injured in ongoing unrest in a southern Tel Aviv neighborhood has risen to at least 90. This was reported by Kan public television, according to which four medical centers are doing their best to help them. About thirty officers were among the injured, the broadcaster added. Despite his time out, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement announcing that he would personally commit to monitoring developments in the situation “with the aim of restoring order.”
