Sophie Nélisse starred in “One Way: Survive”: alternating between Hollywood and Quebec

Despite having a more than enviable international career, actress Sophie Nélisse wants to continue acting in French in Quebec.

“If I could do a project in the US and a project in Montreal every year, that would be my dream!” she told the QMI agency.

The star of the American series “Yellowjackets”, broadcast on Showtime, was supposed to start filming the third season of this horror drama in August, but the writers and actors strike in Hollywood led to the filming being stopped. According to the conditions demanded by the strikers, she will use the coming weeks to travel with her mother, who is her most loyal friend and advises her on her artistic decisions. The 23-year-old would particularly like to visit Scotland and Ireland.

But before she packs her bags, the actress is promoting the series All Simple: Survival, directed by director Rafaël Ouellet, in which she plays Fanny, a young mother who, along with six friends, all of whom are older than her, are self-sufficient Owns farm. We’re talking environmentally conscious people, eco-conscious people, and even survivalists within the gang.

“One Way: Surviving” promises to be a breathtaking thriller, according to Sophie Nélisse, whose character is not afraid to get her hands dirty doing various jobs on the farm. When an incident occurs, Sacha Louis’ (Anglesh Major) partner does everything she can to protect her toddler while everyone else tries to get by.

“It’s less behind closed doors than in the first season, but it’s in the same spirit: it’s about who did it.” [NDLR qui l’a fait]“We assume a lot about all the characters,” said Sophie Nélisse.

“Fanny, your main concern is the safety of your child. She has more weight on her shoulders than the others because she has to protect her child. “It will make her commit actions that she may regret,” she added, revealing that she is in the process of purchasing the rights to a book with her Yellowjackets partner Courtney Eaton. “It is in our plan to produce the film together,” she said, without revealing the title of the book.

Two characters from the first season return in One Way: Survive; Thomas (Jean-Nicolas Verreault), the wife of policewoman Michaud (Anick Lemay), is stuck in the countryside and suspiciously watches his neighbors across the street, convinced that a tragedy is unfolding before his eyes.

The series also stars Rosalie Bonenfant, Olivier Gervais-Courchesne, Charles-Aubey Houde, Simon Landry-Désy, Rose-Marie Perreault, Antoine Olivier Pilon and Nahéma Ricci.

“Filming with Nahéma and Rose-Marie was one of the best moments of my year. Not only are they really talented, but I am also happy to say that they have become my friends. It felt really good to shoot in Quebec and find a more intimate, personal set. “On the small plateaus of Quebec, we feel that people are here for the love of their job and for the love of creating,” said Sophie Nélisse.

Produced by Sphere Media, the six episodes of One Way: Survive will air every Wednesday at 8pm on Noovo starting September 13th.
