On Friday, a child was bitten by an alligator on Lincoln Beach in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The child’s age and health status were not disclosed, CNN reports.
According to the City of New Orleans website, the beach in question has been closed to the public since 1964 due to “illegal use.”
“Before it was closed, it was accessible via a tunnel,” we add. This tunnel is now blocked. It is full of water and animal life, including alligators and venomous snakes.”
This incident even prompted the municipality to issue a press release asking its residents to avoid the area.
She added that a rehabilitation project is planned to allow everyone safe access to the site.
