Women’s League 2023: The Lionesses win the title

The Monumental Stadium was painted cream after Universitario de Deportes became champions of the 2023 Women’s League following a 2-0 win over Alianza Lima in the second leg final.

Even though the Lionesses were narrowly defeated in the first leg in Matute, there were still 90 minutes left to turn the score around and they did not disappoint.

With the support of all the fans, Tierradentro’s leaders dictated the tempo of the game from the start and had several approaches to Maryori Sánchez’s goal. But the blue-whites fought with all their might to defend their zero on goal and reached the break with a goalless draw.
