France: Death of a pedestrian hit by a driver fleeing the police

As we learned from a source on Sunday, on Saturday night in Paris, a pedestrian died after being hit by a driver who was fleeing the police after refusing to submit to a check.

The driver left his car on a street in the 19th arrondissement in the northeast of the capital and is still on the run, the same source added, confirming information from BFMTV.

At around 3:30 a.m., a police patrol on Avenue Edouard-Vaillant in Pantin tried to control a BMW, which failed to comply and fled towards Paris.

“The fugitive takes numerous arteries one after the other in the 19th arrondissement and overtakes the police at the exit of the Porte de la Villette tunnel,” says the police version.

“Several minutes later, at 3:35 a.m.,” police “were notified that a person had been knocked down on Macdonald Boulevard,” a second police source said.

Despite the intervention of emergency services, “the victim died on the spot at 4:15 a.m.,” the same source said. The vehicle in question was found a few kilometers away in the 19th arrondissement, without any occupants and with an impact mark on the front, she said.

According to the initial police source, an investigation has been initiated and transferred to the judicial accident processing department.
