A weekend to forget for Lance Stroll

Quebecer Lance Stroll, who started at the back of the field, still managed to climb back up by finishing 16th at the Monza circuit on Sunday.

However, Stroll was unable to collect any points in the drivers’ championship.

The Quebecer admitted he had some problems with his car and that didn’t help his cause during the day.

“The car didn’t have the pace we needed today, so it was a difficult race. We tried to do something different with the strategy and only stopped once, but towards the end of the stint the tires started to wear out and I couldn’t maintain my position,” Stroll said on Aston Martin’s website on Sunday.

The 24-year-old driver had major problems at the weekend. He wasn’t able to complete a single lap in free practice on Friday; the main driver drove the last time in qualifying on Saturday.

“It was a very difficult weekend for us [en parlant de son équipe]. We still have a lot of work to do before we head to Singapore in two weeks,” the Aston Martin team member added.

His teammate Fernando Alonso finished the race in ninth place.

Verstappen makes history

Max Verstappen made history on Saturday by winning his tenth consecutive Grand Prix. He surpasses Sébastian Vettel’s mark in 2013.

The Dutchman also secured his twelfth win of the season. The 25-year-old now has a comfortable lead of 145 points over his closest rival in the drivers’ championship, his Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez.

The next race takes place in Singapore in two weeks.
