Michoacán is crowned Universal Mexican 2023 El

Aguascalientes, Mexico.- Melissa Flores of Michoacán was crowned Universal Mexicana 2023 and will represent Mexico in the Miss Universe pageant on November 18 in El Salvador.

After the win, her teammates ran to her, hugged her and congratulated her. Andrea Díaz Farril from Guerrero was the first runner-up and will therefore act as a replacement in case Melissa is unable to fulfill her duties as a beauty queen.

Irma Miranda said goodbye to her title of Universal Mexicana 2022 and crowned Flores, who is a psychologist and beautician by profession. In addition to dedicating herself to modeling, she also serves as the Director of Culture and Tourism for the government of Venustiano Carranza in her state.

Other beauties will also represent our country in international competitions: Carolina Pérez from Sinaloa will participate in Reina Hispanoamericana 2023; Xiadani Saucedo from Mexico City will compete for the title of Miss Orb International 2023; Tania Estrada Quezada of Chihuahua will represent Mexico at Miss Charm 2024; and Valeria López Villanueva from Colima will go to Miss International 2024.

Led by Andrea Bazarte and Arturo Carmona, the Mexicana Universal 2023 final began at 8:12 p.m. at the Aguascalientes Convention and Exhibition Center, a state that became the home of the 32 candidates during the three-week concentration of the competition.

Family and friends supported their favorites with banners with photos of the missing, letters with lights forming the candidates’ names, noisemakers, bugles, glowing crowns and balloons. The audience could be heard shouting the candidates’ names and fighting to see who could shout the loudest.

The top ten participants who reached the communication phase were Jalisco Designada, USA, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Guerrero, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Colima, Michoacán and Chihuahua. Everyone had 40 seconds to answer one of the fans’ questions.

With their music, Los Claxons calmed nerves before rising to the top with songs like “Flores de Febrero,” “Respiro,” and “SalpicaNOS,” and Frederick Kelley sang “Vámonos de Rumba” and “Perfumito de Noche.”

“Mexicana Universal depends on combining the commitment of many people. I am grateful that, as the leader of the project, I made this finale possible today,” said Lupita Jones, CEO and Director of Mexicana Universal, after Nicole Favre’s presentation.

Before the finale, Mexican designers were invited to contribute creations of typical costumes. The organization received more than 100 designs, of which only 20 were finalists. The winner of the traditional costume competition was “Los Colores de México Guardiana Alebrije” by Ángel Rames from Oaxaca, who was inspired by Mexican crafts. The winner of Mexicana Universal 2023 will wear it in Miss Universe.
