“In a moment when I turned around, my brother’s cell phone fell to the ground,” gospel singer Regis Danese recalls of the accident
Gospel music phenomenon, singer Regis Danese, terrified fans this week. Last Wednesday (30) he was on his way to a presentation in Goiás when the car he was driving collided with a truck. The singer was hospitalized, underwent surgery and spent 40 hours in intensive care. Three days later, he surprised everyone with a relieved smile. The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on a section of the BR153 in Jaraguá, in the central Goiás region. According to the Federal Highway Patrol, the car Regis was driving crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed into a truck. The singer had just left his wife and daughter in a hotel in Goiânia and was on his way with Regis’ brother and producer Daniel Danese to a show that was to take place in the town of Ceres, 180 km away. “I just had an accident. I am looked after here. The car was completely broken down. Pray for me. I have severe pain in my abdomen. Nothing happened to my brother who was by my side,” Regis said in the video.

Daniel says they talked. “I looked at the GPS. My phone fell down. When I picked up the cell phone, I said: There’s a knock coming. And I just lowered my head, Régis was already playing my way. I only see this scene. The luck is that he played, if he had continued it would have hit him in the head.”
“I braked and my brother’s cell phone fell to the ground. (…) Do you know this distraction? I think I turned around like that at that moment… And when I was in the corner I thought there was nothing in front of me, at that moment I, I don’t know, didn’t see anything, I just saw that Effects. (…) It was a great horror. I was shocked by the impact. I have not seen anything. And I only saw it later in the pictures how the car was completely torn apart. There was no door on my side. If I hadn’t been wearing a seatbelt, I probably would have died,” Regis said.

The singer performs 15 to 20 performances per month and his intense show routine could help explain the accident.
“I was tired. I didn’t sleep that morning. I went to bed at 1:30 a.m. and got up at 3:30 a.m.,” he reveals.

Since 2005, when he released his first CD, Regis Danese has become one of the biggest names in gospel music in Brazil. In 2009 he was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the “Best Christian Album” category. Few people know, but Danese also composed for the group “Só Pra Contrariar” and, together with Peninha, is the author of the song “Pra fala a Verdade”, which was popular with the singer’s voice.
