The United States rejected the entry of nearly 4,000 Cubans at the Mexican border Cuban Directory

Since the start of fiscal year 2023, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in the United States has denied entry to the northern country to nearly 4,000 Cubans at the Mexican border, according to data confirmed by Miami newspaper El Nuevo Herald.

In this report, they report that a total of 3,522 Cubans have so far not been admitted to the United States after being questioned at the southern border with Mexico. They state that most of the denials occurred at the border post in Laredo, Texas. In addition, the other three places where denials and regular entry of Cubans occur are El Paso (Texas), Tucson (Arizona) and San Diego (California).

Cubans who attempt to enter the United States illegally through the border crossing not only risk fraud and crimes by “coyotes,” but if caught, they will be immediately deported to Cuba and will not have access to legal programs such as the CBP An appointment or “humanitarian probation” in at least five years.

“Under Title 8, individuals and families who enter without authorization may be deported, and noncitizens may be deported to their country of origin. “Don’t endanger your life by taking such a dangerous trip only to be deported,” warns CBP.

Cubans on the Mexican-American Border: Parole or CBP One is the answer

From Cuba, flights to Nicaragua, where a visa is not required for Cubans, continue to be in high demand, as from there begins the route through Central America to arrival in Mexico.

Nowadays it is normal for Cubans to stay in Mexico and wait for the CBP One appointment, which is random and arrives in just 15 days for many who are lucky. According to reports on CBP One’s Facebook page, the wait is two and a half months at most.

CBP One is an application for the purpose of seeking asylum or entry into the United States on humanitarian parole. It was launched last May after the end of the so-called Title 42. Since then, thousands of Cubans have also entered the United States this way, sometimes within a few days.
