This episode of WWE Raw on September 4, 2023 features the arrival of Jey Uso in the red brand, Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle against the Viking Raiders in a Tag Team Tornado and the Intercontinental Title between Gunther and Chad Gable.
Main event Jey Uso on Raw
Jey Uso makes an appearance to open this episode. He explains that he has reached a point where he can no longer bear fighting his family every week. Cody Rhodes called him and it’s thanks to him that he ended up on Raw. (Cody Rhodes is a former vice president, he knows how this sort of thing is done, and that’s how Michael Cole justified the move). “Main Event Jey Uso is in your city! ” he said.
Sami Zayn makes his appearance. He knows that a lot of people behind the scenes will have problems with him because he’s no longer part of the bloodline (including Kevin Owens, who isn’t here tonight), but he wants to be the first to tell him that he’s happy, to see him on Raw. He says he is proud of himself. Zayn extends his hand to shake, but Uso seems to refuse.
“That wasn’t particularly Ucey of me!” said Jey Uso before taking Zayn into his arms. The reunion ultimately went well.
Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle meet Jey Uso as he heads backstage. There seems to be a lot of mistrust in the air towards Uso.
Seth Rollins interrupts a discussion between Ricochet and Adam Pearce, who is not happy to see the heavyweight champion in attendance tonight despite the loss he suffered after Payback on Saturday. Rollins assures him he’s fine, and when Ricochet tells him he doesn’t have to carry the show on his shoulders, Rollins repeats: he’s fine.
The Viking Raiders defeated Matt Riddle and Drew McIntyre by putting Riddle through a table with a Rangna skirt. Kofi Kingston had come to help Riddle and McIntyre, but accidentally hit Riddle with his Trouble In Paradise, causing the team’s defeat.
Drew McIntyre appears to be on the verge of a turnaround, disappointed by this loss and angry at Kofi Kingston.
The Intercontinental title is (also) in the spotlight tonight. Gunther defends it against Chad Gable and videos will be shown several times tonight showing the main champions who have held the title.
Seth Rollins is ready to defend his title tonight
Seth Rollins is in the ring for a promo. He says Shinsuke Nakamura did everything he promised (with his back), so much so that at one point in the game he thought he wouldn’t be able to do it. Everything, or almost: Seth Rollins is still the heavyweight champion of the world. He says he had to be brought back in a wheelchair pushed by Becky Lynch.

The entirety of Judgment Day is an in-ring promo. Everyone is talking, Dominik Mysterio’s words are drowned out by boos, and Finn Bálor thanks all the members of the clan, JD McDonagh for always supporting him (Priest rolls his eyes), and thanks himself for becoming “Grand Slam Finn”. is.
Rhea Ripley is happy that Finn Balor and Damian Priest are back on the same page and managed to become tag team champions and is angry that everyone is talking about Jey Uso while Bloodline has collapsed and Judgment Day is still the WWE dominates. After a new video about the Intercontinental title, Gunther appears for a promo where he tells Chad Gable that he doesn’t deserve to be consigned to the history books. He will be champion forever and when the bell rings tonight he will go down in history as the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion.
Shayna Baszler defeated Zoey Stark through submission with the Kirifuda clutch. Stark fought hard, but Baszler kept coming back to attack. However, Baszler praised Zoey Stark’s performance after the game.
Behind the scenes, Finn Balor is floating the idea of officially bringing JD McDonagh into Judgment Day. Damian Priest believes he has to prove himself, which Finn Balor doesn’t disagree with. Ripley says we should wait and see how McDonagh does against Sami Zayn tonight.
As Balor and Priest leave, Rhea Ripley tells Dominik Mysterio to make sure everything goes as planned during JD McDonagh’s match tonight.
Raquel Rodriguez defeated Chelsea Green by pinfall with his Texana Bomb in a quick match.
Rodriguez says he’s been demanding another championship match against Rhea Ripley, but this time Dominik Mysterio needs to be banned from ringside.
Chad Gable responds to Gunther in a promo by saying that he is already in the history books as an Olympic gold medalist with a college degree. Tonight he wants to prove to everyone that he’s more than just a tag team wrestler. “The world will see that your desire to keep this title is nothing compared to my desire to take it away from you.” »
Have you seen John Cena?
The Miz enters the ring for a Miz TV. A somewhat special Miz TV, because the guest is a surprise guest: John Cena. The entire audience is excited to see John Cena. Or not seeing it. The entire segment is based on the invisible John Cena meme, in reference to his catchphrase “You can’t see me.”
Miz attempts an interview and then explains that he has been able to see through John Cena throughout his career. He then asks John Cena to leave, but the tone gets louder (or so we imagine) and Miz attacks, even going so far as to do his “Skull Crushing Finale.”
After this amazing match, Miz speaks on camera and asks for a new match against LA Knight, this time without a special referee.
The question we’re asking after this section is: Is John Cena getting paid for this “appearance”? Or was he replaced by GCW’s Invisible Man to create an illusion?
Jey Uso meets Adam Pearce, who explains that because of his appearance on Raw, a superstar has to join SmackDown, “and people might not be happy with the consequences.”
JD McDonagh defeated Sami Zayn in the fall with a roll-up after a distraction from Dominik Mysterio.
Zayn attacks Mysterio after the match and threatens him with the Helluvah Kick, but McDonagh stops him and takes the hold in Mysterio’s place.
Judgment Day praises McDonagh for his performance and his actions behind the scenes after the game. Dominik Mysterio discovers Jey Uso (and his terrible acting) and tries to recruit him for Judgment Day, trying to persuade him with stories about difficult families that the two might share.

Günther writes history
In the main event, Intercontinental Champion Gunther, on his way to becoming the longest reigning champion in history (with two days left until he defeats Honky Tonk Man), faces Chad Gable, who wants to prevent this record from being broken by becoming champion in turn becomes .
