For her part, the deputy of the Frente de Todos and granddaughter of Abuelas, Victoria Montenegro, considered it very dangerous for the LLA to achieve the Argentine presidency and condemned the attempts to cause a setback in the fight for human rights and democracy.
“Every year, the capital’s legislature remembers that a dictatorship began on March 24, 1976 and reaffirms its commitment to the fight for memory, truth and justice. On this basis, there should be a framework that requires public officials to respect people’s achievements,” he stressed.
“There are sectors that are trying to discuss some of the achievements of the last 40 years. We must analyze the context to identify what is at risk and defend it with all the means available to democracy. The reaction of the population is the most important thing for the future,” he added.
The day before, despite an extensive police operation, hundreds of people gathered near the Buenos Aires parliament to denounce the celebration of an event called by Villarruel to honor genocidal people.
