Joe Jonas has officially filed for divorce from his wife Sophie Turner after four years of marriage, declaring in the filing that their relationship has “irretrievably broken down.”
The 34-year-old singer filed papers ending his marriage to the Game of Thrones actress in a Miami Dade County courtroom on Tuesday, hours after it was revealed he had hired a divorce lawyer.
Court documents obtained by reveal Jonas declared his marriage to 27-year-old Turner, with whom he has two children, was “irretrievably broken” – and lay out the former couple’s plans to gain custody of their three-year-old daughter Willa to share and their one-year-old daughter, whose name they do not reveal.
The paperwork lists Willa by her initials, WJ, and gives clues to her other daughter’s name, which she lists as DJ
In the marriage dissolution petition, Jonas’ lawyer states: “It is in the best interest of the minor children that the parties share parental responsibility.”

Jonas “respectfully” requests in the documents that he and Turner develop “a parenting plan” and a “timesharing schedule,” listing Willa and DJ’s primary residence as Miami, Florida, where he and Turner had been living.
The documents also state that the parties “entered into a valid and enforceable prenuptial agreement” on April 29, 2019 – days before they tied the knot in Las Vegas.
Jonas’ attorney did not include the premarital marriage in the dissolution petition to “protect the privacy rights of both parties.” However, the documents further indicate that he has no plans to seek child support from Turner, stating, “Both parties have the ability to provide support for the minor children, and both should be obligated.” to contribute to the maintenance of minor children.”
Jonas is being represented in the divorce by West Palm Beach-based attorney Thomas J. Sasser, while Turner’s business manager Carrie Malcolm is listed in the filing as her primary contact.
The Burnin’ Up hitmaker was pictured without his wedding ring on August 11, but he wore it firmly back on his finger during a performance with his brothers in Austin, Texas on September 3.
The couple, who first started dating in 2016 after meeting through mutual friends, got engaged a year later and flaunted their impending nuptials on Instagram with similar captions like “I said yes” and “She said yes.”
Joe and Sophie tied the knot in two ceremonies two years after their engagement – the first was a private, intimate affair in Las Vegas with a second, larger wedding in Paris – and appeared to be a perfectly happy couple.
