“This continent accounts for just 4% of global emissions, but suffers some of the worst impacts (…): extreme heat, unrelenting floods and tens of thousands of deaths from devastating droughts,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

In this sense, the European head of state announced this Tuesday the conclusion of an agreement with Kenyan President William Ruto to further promote green hydrogen technology. “With your enormous renewable energy potential, your vital raw materials, your incredible nature and biodiversity, and your young workforce, you can help make global energy and utility systems cleaner.” “And at the same time, we are creating the good jobs and economic opportunities that your people demand,” von der Leyen added.
This is precisely one of the main themes of the summit, which aims to highlight the “million-dollar opportunities” that Ruto says Africa can find in implementing global climate action.
