For François Legault, there is no question of handing out a check to all Quebecers, as he has done in the past with checks for $400 or $600, depending on Quebecers’ income. Rather, he wants to intervene with certain specific groups, but without limiting himself to disadvantaged Quebecers.

“We have no intention of introducing general controls at the moment,” he said. […] But we look to see if there are groups of people who need special help.”

“In the November update, we do not exclude support from certain groups of citizens who are currently suffering from the price increase,” he added. […] “The Bank of Canada is taking actions that impact citizens, and as governments we must help those citizens,” he said, hours after the Bank of Canada kept interest rates at 5%.

Along the way, he criticized Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois and Paul St-Pierre Plamondon because, in his opinion, it was important to ensure the independence of the Bank of Canada and not to interfere in its activities.

François Legault and the government are currently considering their options.

“There is nothing excluded,” he clarified. But at the same time, nothing is certain at the moment. This will be one of the topics of discussion with MPs over the next two days.”
