Lula affirms that Brazil’s independence is not yet complete

Lula made such a statement to the nation on the eve of the national holiday of Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 7 every year.

In the speech, the former trade union leader highlighted some of the measures taken by his government, such as the announcement of the new growth acceleration program, celebrated economic progress and attested to the relations with the other institutions of the country, the National Congress and society.

He specified that tomorrow, September 7, will not be a day “neither of hatred nor of fear, but of unity.”

Regarding the independence of the South American giant, he stressed that it is not yet complete and “it must be built every day by all of us on three great foundations: democracy, sovereignty and union”.

He defended that in his third term in office, a million new jobs were created in the first half of the year and that the country’s gross domestic product once again grew at its fastest pace since 2010.

“After six years of frozen salaries, federal civil servants made adjustments. The minimum wage rose again above the inflation rate. “We have increased the value assigned to school nutrition after six years of no adjustment,” he explained.

Regarding sovereignty, Lula pointed out that in addition to protecting the Amazon, the country must also defend strategic companies and public banks.

“It means speaking to every country as equals and making our voices heard in the most important international forums, be it on tackling the climate crisis; the search for peace on earth; the fight against hunger and inequalities around the world; and the fight for decent work for all people,” he listed.

He championed the union regardless of political or “football team” preference.

According to the former mechanic, the government has been fighting hate speech in the last eight months and understanding is once again the watchword.

“We invest in dialogue with the National Congress, state governments, mayors, the judiciary, political parties, unions and organized society.” That is why tomorrow will not be a day of hatred or fear, but a day of unity. The day to remember that Brazil is only one thing. “That we dream the same dreams,” he emphasized.

The founder of the Workers’ Party will take part in the central independence event with a parade in Brasilia tomorrow.

At the end of the day he will travel to India, where he will attend the meeting of the G20, a group made up of the finance ministers and central bank chiefs of the world’s 19 largest economies and the European Union.
