A video that went viral on social media shows the aftermath of a “diarrhea attack” suffered by one of the passengers on a Delta Airlines flight from the American state of Georgia to Barcelona, Spain.

The incident forced the aircraft to return to its takeoff point and was deemed a “biological hazard” by the crew.

The case, which occurred last Friday (1st), gained traction in the digital media. Images taken inside the plane show the plane’s corridor covered in sheets of paper and dirt, with a large brownish mass covering the area.

According to reports from some passengers, the smell affected the trip and even the cleaning products thrown in were not enough to eliminate the bad smell.

“It was really bad. It was dripping down the hallway and smelled really bad. The vanilla scented disinfectant used on it just made it smell like vanilla shit,” one passenger said on social media.

“The flight was met by emergency vehicles and paramedics removed the sick passenger from the aircraft. My partner said the plane was cleaner when he returned than when he first boarded. “It doesn’t smell either,” concluded the passenger’s companion.

Biological risk
The case was documented in text messages to air traffic control in which the captain explained the problem.

“We are redirecting to ATL passenger diarrhea on the plane,” says the pilot.

Still in the audio, recordings from air traffic control show one of the pilots describing the situation of the aircraft.

“It’s just a biohazard issue. We had a passenger who had diarrhea all over the plane, so they want us to fly back to Atlanta.”

Following the incident, the other passengers and crew were rebooked onto another flight that continued to the same destination.

Airplane cleaning
Delta officials confirmed there was a “medical issue” on the plane and the plane had to be diverted to Atlanta for cleaning.

The aircraft was then used for another flight.
