Kate Garraway leaves Ben Shephard in hysterics with an ’embarrassing’ Good Morning Britain mistake: ‘I think I need to lay down!’
Kate Garraway left her Good Morning Britain co-host Ben Shephard in hysterics on Thursday as he returned to the show after his summer break.
The 56-year-old presenter experienced the “embarrassing” faux pas during an interview with ‘Doctor Who’ star Jemma Redgrave after she was told she was playing an octopus in her new stage show ‘Octopolis.’
The blunder caused Ben to struggle to hide his laughter and joked that he “needed a break” despite this being his first day on the show.
Jemma, who will reprise her role as Kate Stewart in Doctor Who next year, spoke about her upcoming stage role.
Presenter Kate explained that she would be playing an “octopus on stage” and claimed she was “very curious to see it”.

Ben tried to hide his laughter and then explained that Kate is actually playing a scientist who is tending to the creature and not the octopus itself.
Kate then admitted she had been upset with the concept since it was brought up in the GMB morning briefing, leading Ben to admit: ‘It’s only my first day back too.’ How did anyone deal with that?’
Kate then joked: “They’re all in therapy!” while Ben added: “I need to lie down!”
After completing the interview, Kate admitted that she was “a little embarrassed by the octopus mistake.”
This comes after Kate shared an update on her husband Derek Draper’s progress at Tuesday’s National Television Awards.
At the start of the pandemic in March 2020, Derek was diagnosed with coronavirus and was in a life-threatening condition.
Doctors put him in an induced coma and on a ventilator. He was in hospital for 13 months.
He has been seriously ill since 2020 and has been in and out of hospital ever since, where he has to use a wheelchair.

She said, “He’s fine.” I’m afraid there hasn’t been any dramatic progress, but we’re carrying on.
“Derek and the kids are all watching at home, but we also taped it so we can watch together.’ I’m just glad I didn’t drop out.’
Last week, Kate revealed her husband’s ordeal at the airport, which left him stranded between passport gates for an hour.
Kate and her Good Morning Britain co-host Richard Madeley, 67, were speaking with Martin Hibbert, a survivor of the Manchester bombing, on Wednesday’s program about the degrading treatment of disabled people as Kate recalled a shocking moment regarding reminded her own husband.
Kate opened up about the shock when her Covid-stricken husband was trapped between the automatic ePassport gates after he was unable to free himself, telling the show he was essentially “stuck in no man’s land”.
