WWE introduced a new World Heavyweight Championship due to the absence of the other two titles, which were unified by Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38. According to a new report, some within the company want former Intercontinental and United States champion Shinsuke Nakamura to win the title.
Earlier this year, Nakamura appeared on Monday Night Raw during the annual WWE Draft. The Japanese have been much better positioned on the main roster in recent months under Triple H’s regime. He immediately became a threat and a worthy challenger for the red brand.
The king of strong style is in a heated feud with current world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins and could win the title. According to Xero News, some within the company want Nakamura to beat Rollins and become the second heavyweight champion of the world:
“Some within the company want Shinsuke Nakamura to defeat Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship, while there are many who support Rollins and want his reign to continue for now.”
The report also states that many want Seth Rollins to retain the title and have a long reign. It will be interesting to see if Nakamura can claim his first world title in WWE, which would be a surprise to many.
