The Quebecer who falsely claims to have created a country recognized by Canada, of which he declares himself “king,” was arrested in the Laurentians on Thursday and police found several dangerous weapons in his home.

“Large criminal investigations made the arrest on September 7 at his residence in Val-des-Lacs for threats and intimidation,” confirmed Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec, to the Journal (SQ).
Jean-Denis Boudreault, leader of the fantasy land of Tayos, made headlines this summer after authorities warned the public about him. Above all, the 43-year-old convinced hundreds of people to pay for citizenship in his fake country.

“He was arrested after threats were made against SQ police officers last July. During the arrest at his home, police confiscated several items, including a long gun, a replica antique gun and firearm parts,” explains Ms. Dorsainville.

Several allegations
Note that Mr. Boudreault, who uses the false identity of “Your Majesty King Regis Lucius I” in his kingdom, was arrested by the SQ on July 29th. The Quebecer was driving a car with a fake license plate and a fake driver’s license from his imaginary state of Tayos.

According to a court document obtained by our representative, the Val-des-Lacs resident now faces five criminal charges. Four of these are related to the fact that Jean-Denis Boudreault obstructed or intimidated SQ police officers.

Another involves the production of fake documents, including passports, driving licenses, insurance certificates and registration certificates, created by the “Kingdom of Tayos”.
“He remains in custody pending the following proceedings,” added Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville.
One final audio message…
The false king also left a final message to his fans on the Telegram social network.
“Just to tell you that I was arrested by mistake by the Sûreté du Québec, of course without jurisdiction. I’ve been arrested and they’re going to send me to court illegally,” the so-called “King Regis Lucius I” admits, unsettled.
Me Patricia Johnson, deputy spokesperson for the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP), stated that “on Friday a court ordered an assessment related to the criminal responsibility of the defendant” in Beauce.
Jean-Denis Boudreault, who previously worked in the cryptocurrency space, will also appear in court again on September 14.
