The Jays end their weekend in style

The Toronto Blue Jays won their three-game series against the Kansas City Royals with a 5-2 victory at the Rogers Center in Toronto on Sunday.

John Schneider’s men had success this week, winning five out of a possible six games. They have also achieved eight wins in the last ten meetings.

The Jays now sit in second place among teams selected for the American League playoffs.

Like the day before, the two teams took their time before registering for the classification. Ultimately, it was the guests who put the first points on the scoreboard. Salvador Perez and Bobby Witt Jr. each contributed in this round.

However, the Jays quickly tied the game in the same inning. Royals pitcher Cole Ragans made three consecutive bad pitches that allowed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Davis Schneider to cross the plate.

After that, Toronto’s offense never looked back, scoring a total of three runs in innings seven and eight.

Jays centerfielder Kevin Kiermaier hit his eighth shot of the season in the seventh inning.

Blue Jays starting point guard Jose Berrios had a great outing on the mound. The right-hander recorded seven strikeouts in as many innings while giving up five hits.

Endgame specialist Jordan Romano recorded his 34th save of the season, ranking second in the American League in that regard. It was also his 95th career save and now ranks fifth in Jays history.

The Queen City team begins a four-game home series against the Texas Rangers. Texas is not far behind the Jays as it is just one game away from receiving the final card among teams drafted in the USA.

The Mariners aren’t helping their cause

The Tampa Bay Rays also handed victory to the Seattle Mariners despite a 6-3 victory on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Mariners just suffered their seventh loss in their last 10 games and are two and a half games behind the Houston Astros and atop the American League West Section.

As for the Rays, they are well ahead of the teams drafted in the USA with an eight and a half game lead.
