Kevin McCarthy formally endorses impeachment inquiry against Biden 44 Washington DC

WASHINGTON DC – House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., announced Tuesday his support for an impeachment investigation into President Joe Biden to obtain bank records and other documents from the president and his son Hunter Biden.

Speaking to reporters during a news conference on Tuesday, McCarthy said an impeachment inquiry into Biden would be the “logical next step” in the Republican-led investigation that has been ongoing for months.

“This next logical step will give our committees full power to gather all the facts and answers to give the American public exactly what we want to know,” he said. “I think the president also wants to respond to these questions and allegations.”

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., will provide an update to members at a House Republican Conference meeting Thursday morning, sources said .

The development was first reported by Punchbowl News.

McCarthy has signaled for weeks that the House could launch an impeachment inquiry, which would give additional legal powers to the House investigation into the Biden family.
