Apple gave the world a first look at its new iPhone 15 on Tuesday during its annual September product event.
The slim device features a textured matte finish, ceramic shielding and supports USB-C charging.
The iPhone 15 features a 6.1-inch display and 100 percent recycled cobalt in the battery amid a global smartphone slump and sales problems in China.
Apple said USB-C charging cables will be available for both its iPhone 15 and the charging case of its AirPods Pro devices, allowing it to use the same charging cables already used for iPads and Macs.
Pricing for the iPhone 15 starts at $799 and the iPhone 15 Plus starts at $899.

The most significant upgrade is the Dynamic Island, which has been added to the flagship smartphone and was previously only available with the high-end iPhone 14 Plus
The iPhone 15 is said to have a larger battery, but Apple did not provide any precise information.
Apple also announced its new Apple Watch Series 9 on Tuesday, which features a touchless way to answer calls and snooze alarms — users stick their index finger and thumb together to perform these tasks.
It uses machine learning to detect tiny changes in blood flow when the user taps their fingers together, freeing the other hand for other tasks like walking the dog or holding a cup of coffee, said Jeff Williams, chief operating officer from Apple.
The Series 9 is designed with the tech giant’s most powerful chip – the S9-Chp – which is twice as fast as the one introduced in 2022.
Along with a new device, Apple announced innovative features including Name Drop between devices and the ability to sync your Watch with a Home Pod.

While the conference kicked off with a new Apple Watch Series 9, the world was excited about the iPhone 15.
The new smartphone features the same A16 Bionic chip inside that previously formed the brains of the iPhone 14 Pro, making the flagship the most powerful device yet.
An Apple executive said the company used machine learning to recognize a person in the image, allowing users to convert an image into a portrait immediately or later in the Photos app.
While the iPhone 15 was the star of the show, the Apple Watch Series 9 is packed with new features.
New internal hardware captures hand gestures and allows users to answer calls, hang up calls, and snooze alarms with the tap of their index finger and thumb.
The 2022 Series 8 offers up to 1,000 nits of brightness, but the latest model goes up to 2,000.
Name Drop will be released with the upcoming iOS 17 update, allowing users to tap their devices to share contacts.
However, this isn’t expected to come to the Apple Watch until later this year.
The Series 9 will be similar to previous models but will feature updated colors including pink, starlight and silver.

The tech giant is also ditching the traditional leather straps and opting for Finewoven, which supposedly feels like the original straps but is made of fabric.
And Apple said it worked with Hermes and Nike to produce the fabric-made pieces.
The latest watches feature the next-generation S9 chip, enabling better animations and effects. This is the first processor upgrade since Apple released the Series 6 in 2020.
