The President of Laos arrives in Cuba for the G77 and China summit

According to a national television report, the president was received at José Martí International Airport by the Caribbean country’s Industry Minister, Eloy Álvarez.

Brazilian leader Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will attend the G77 summit; from Argentina, Alberto Fernández; from Colombia, Gustavo Petro; from Iraq: Abdelatif Rashid; from Palestine: Mahmud Abás, from Angola: João Lourenço and from Honduras: Xiomara Castro.

The head of state of Bolivia, Luis Arce, also confirmed his participation; Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe; Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi; Equatorial Guinea, Obiang Nguema, and the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves.

In addition, high-ranking officials such as United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will attend the event; the Secretary-General of the International Communications Union, Doreen Bogdan-Martin, and the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Qu Dongyu.

The G77 and China are the largest intergovernmental organization of developing countries in the United Nations and aim to improve cooperation between their members.

The aim of the summit soon to be held in this capital is to strengthen the unity of the member countries and decide on common and practical measures to effectively deal with the current challenges.

On these days, the streets of Havana are decorated to welcome members of the bloc, which represents 80 percent of the world’s population.

Laos is located in Southeast Asia, has no maritime borders and has a population of more than seven million people.
