Quebec native Édouard Julien extended his arms to help the Minnesota Twins defeat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 on Tuesday night at Target Field.
As the designated hitter and first in his team’s offensive lineup, Julien led off with a solo home run in the third inning. He hit the ball 417 feet from home plate to center field. It was his twelfth long ball this season.
The 24-year-old finished his night’s work with one hit and one walk in four plate appearances.
It was a two-run home run by Willi Castro in the seventh inning that gave the Twins their first win in three games.
Rene Pinto stretched out his arms in a lost cause.
The victory went to Louie Varland (4:3), while Zack Littell (3:6) suffered the setback. Jhoan Duran made his 26th save of the current season.
Julien and his teammates from the Minnesota club will try to win the three-game series against the Rays on Wednesday afternoon.
