Megan Thee Stallion was spotted screaming at Justin Timberlake backstage at the VMAs; However, a source says there was “no fight” between the two.

Follow live updates from the 2023 MTV VMAs here.

Megan performed her new collaborative single with Cardi B, “Bongos,” at the event in New Jersey on Tuesday (September 12), while Timberlake reunited with his NSYNC bandmates for the first time in a decade.

MTV will broadcast a backstage livestream throughout the show, capturing the incident involving the two artists.

The footage shows Timberlake leaning in to say something to Megan, who responds animatedly by shaking her finger at the singer and shouting something that can’t be heard on the stream.

Joey Fatone from NSYNC then seems to have something to say about Megan too.

A source who witnessed the exchange immediately informed Variety and several other media outlets that there was “no fight” between the two stars.

“He said, ‘It’s so nice to meet you,’ and she said, ‘No, no, that doesn’t count, that doesn’t count.’ “We need to meet properly.”

“It was very sweet,” the source said.

The Independent has contacted representatives for Megan and Timberlake for comment.

The boy band, which originally consisted of Lance Bass, Fatone, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick and Timberlake, was formed in 1995 but has not performed together since the 2013 VMAs. This year, the five singers performed their hits “Girlfriend” and “Bye Bye Bye” as Timberlake received MTV’s 2013 Video Vanguard Award.

The members took the stage at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Tuesday (September 12) to present the award for Best Pop.

The trophy went to Taylor Swift for “Anti-Hero.” Swift was visibly excited by the crowd when NSYNC appeared on stage and gushed over the boy band as she accepted her award, telling them that she had every one of their toy dolls when she was a child.

As Swift hugged each NSYNC member on stage one by one, Bass took the opportunity to present her with numerous colorful beaded bracelets, in keeping with the tradition beloved by Swift fans.

“What are you doing now? Are you doing something?” She asked the group. “You’re going to do something and I need to know what it is! You’re Pop personified.”

Last month, a source told Entertainment Tonight that NSYNC would be recording a song, their first new music since 2001’s “Celebrity,” for the upcoming film “Trolls Band Together.”

The animated film is scheduled to hit theaters on November 17th; It is the third part of the Trolls series in which Timberlake voices the troll Branch.
