After the success of the first week of programming and the awards for Best Director and Best Young Actor at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, the number of Io Capitano cinemas grows to 256.
After the recognition he received at the Venice International Film Festival (the Silver Lion for Best Director and the Marcello Mastroianni Prize for Young Actor) and the warmth with which he was received in the first week of the program, 01 is delighted Distribution to announce this I am captain is preparing to add starting tomorrow, Thursday, September 14th, 56 new rooms, so a total of 256 screens. A result that confirms the attention that the audience immediately gave to the film by Matteo Garrone and its young actors Seydou Sarr and Moustapha Fall, who, together with the director, are currently meeting viewers from all over Italy.

“The Italian cinema audience has once again managed to surprise us,” explains Luigi Lonigro, director of 01 Distribution. Matteo Garrone’s wonderful film was greeted with applause and standing ovations at the end of each screening. After reaching around 100,000 viewers in the first week of programming, from tomorrow another 56 new cinemas will be added to make Io Capitano accessible to an ever wider audience. “The decision to present the film in its original version with subtitles on all Italian screens, as shown at the Venice Film Festival, proved to be a successful choice rewarded by public approval.”

The presentations will continue in the next few days in Milan, Pordenone, Udine, Padua, Treviso, Verona, Rome, Naples, Cosenza, Bari, Catania, Palermo, Perugia.
