There are only a few days left until the new edition of Sunday Inthe fifteenth with the direction of Mara Venier. The debut is actually scheduled for Sunday September 17th at 2pm on Rai1. For this reason, the press conference to present the festive container is planned today, which will take place from around 12:00 in Room A on Viale Mazzini in Rome. In addition to Mara Venier, the director of Rai Daytime Entertainment was also present Angelo Mellone. Here on DavideMaggio.it we will follow the conference live to update the program minute by minute.
12.12: The press conference begins. We start with greetings to Mellone and the “Sunday lady” Mara Venier, who thanks everyone present. Then the promo for Domenica In will be started, which is already rotating on the Rai networks.
12.14: In the promo, Mara is wearing a work helmet. For Mellone, the program is actually remodeled like a building every year. In fact, there will be some news that Venier will announce shortly. It will be a “history of Italy, told by witnesses with special stories”. More space is reserved for current events, with different languages and narrative styles. “In Domenica, afternoons are prime time“, says the director, also in view of the long and ‘prestigious’ management. Mara will also use appropriate language in current events to accompany viewers in the postprandial slot. Mellone agreed with all decisions made by Venier and his staff to revitalize the program. It is certain that this year will be “an edition with even more energy, with even more facets, more special features and even more complete”.
12.18: Mellone gives good luck to Mara, who was initially afraid to work with him because she didn’t know much about him. However, a good level of trust has developed. Mara says: “Domenica In is the only program I can moderate“. Although he has already announced his latest edition several times, he changes his mind each time because he is amazed by the affection shown by viewers to his program, which is gaining in importance every year despite strong competition. The effort “is to always get something different out of each interview,” both for current events and the world of entertainment.
12:22 p.m.: In the first episode there will be Daniela, Giogiò Cutolo’s motheryoung man was recently killed in Naples.
12.25: Mara always had a dream: “to bring Aunt Mara to the theater.” Sunday, meThe program should have started in Cesena, in Emilia Romagna, to bring “You know the reasons to bring these simple people closer to Domenica In”; “We wanted to bring our compassion, our warmth,” which Venier had already done in the 1990s, for example from New York for Italians abroad. However, due to technical problems, especially some guests who could not stay in Cesena, it was decided to start again from the studio. “Every two months I want to go to the Italians with my whole group, with all my guests, with all my friends“. A station is also planned next to Emilia RomagnaUmbria. He’s joking (?) when he says that This is his last Domenica In.
12.28: “The public never let me down, even when my programs were taken away and when I was off the air. There are moments in life when there is a lot of pain and when I go on air and am torn apart by pain, I don’t feel like making fun of anyone. If I’m here after thirty years, it means that the truth pays off,” Mara responds to the affection shown to her by the audience.
12.30 p.m: On Sunday there are guests – as expected by DM – Pooh, Carlo Verdone, Matteo Garrone, and then Daniela Di Maggio, The Kolors, Matteo Bocelli.
12.31: Mellone doesn’t believe Mara when she says it will be her last Sunday. This year she will not be interviewing any politicians either, even if “I would like to do an interview with Giorgia Meloni from woman to woman,” comments Venier.
12.33: There is no past episode of Domenica In and her career that Mara does not forgive herself: “In your work you can make mistakes, slip-ups, but I also live with my slip-ups and mistakes. I don’t blame myself for anything.” Everything happened behind the scenes when dealing with the stars. For example, she was annoyed during an interview in a hotel Arnold Schwarzenegger Unable to endure the simultaneous translation, he would throw his earpiece on the floor every two minutes, forcing a sound engineer to pick it up three times. “Good yes, but tough no”says Mara bluntly, revealing that she disliked the arrogant Schwarzenegger, so much so that she asked her employee to translate for him that he would fuck him if he did it again. And from then on he sat obediently for forty minutes.
12.38: An interview with Madonna was also missed, so she had to wait over five hours before making herself available at 10 p.m. He preferred not to do it since he was already in bed.
12.41: Mara remembers some advice from Renzo Arbore, namely that it is better to give something up when you are at a high level. But Domenica In has given her everything and she can’t say no, even if “I’m convinced that this will be my last year”. She knows that she is a mature person and needs to devote herself to the people she cares about, such as her husband, while her schedule takes her to work every day. “I want to enjoy the love of my husband for as long as possible” (from children and grandchildren) and denies, as it was recently said, “that we are separating”.
12.42: Cold joke from Mellone about Mara’s husband’s trips to Santo Domingo. “If you go to Santo Domingo together, you can do Domingo In.”
12.45: Mara knows that she is spontaneous because “I don’t memorize anything.” On the eve of Sunday In, he reads everything that concerns his guests, but hasn’t written anything afterwards. “I remember three concepts: I sit in front of the guest, we look each other in the eyes and then we move on. Above all, I listen; I am curious, I deeply love who I have in front of me. I fall in love with the guest and try with all my heart to understand who I have in front of me. That doesn’t always happen, but that’s generally how an interview happens.”
12.47: Some guests limit some questions, including through their press offices. However, there’s one thing Venier doesn’t understand: “They come to Domenica In and ask you: “Don’t ask him this, don’t ask him that.” Then they go to Belve and tell everything“. Among the guests of the new edition will be Tommaso Paradiso, whom he did not know and who was a surprise.
12.50: During the pandemic, when she learned that a guest had tested positive, Mara thought about keeping Domenica at home because she was afraid, especially because of her husband’s health problems. At the request of the general director, who asked her to think, Mara changed her mind and realized that “the audience has never let me down” and that she felt she had to cheer and entertain them with her program. The relationship with her husband Nicola is solid, even if “it is clear that the work is done for you, but it is important for each of us”. Work is life and helps her move forward and not collapse.
12.55: Mara doesn’t like to name names about her hypothetical replacement. He doesn’t want to make long-term plans for his future career: “For me, the future is now.” Now that he is of retirement age, he has many offers, perhaps more than ever before. When it comes to current events, Mara knows that she will continue to deal with violence against women, but also with disabilities.
1:00 p.m: Mara wants international guests, but it needs money: “The problem is only economic.” Sylvester Stallone was at stake, but next Sunday Brigitte Nielsen will be there: “At least we stay in the family, will you give me Stallone?” Mellone deviates – “We’ll save a few more episodes” – but Mara doesn’t expect: “More than we already do?”
13.01: Mara insists on not wanting to name the person she imagines as a replacement: “Because then those I didn’t name will be offended. Anyone can do Domenica In.”
13.02: Last greetings. The press conference is over.
