Woody: The Jets defense might be the Dak’s best defense all season

Damien Woody and Kimberley A. Martin are looking forward to the challenge Dak Prescott will face from the Jets defense this Sunday.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks is dealing with a mild medial ligament sprain in one knee but still has a chance to play on Sunday against the New York Jets, a source told ESPN on Thursday .

Cooks did not practice this week and was also completing rehab. He suffered the injury in the season-opening win over the New York Giants, in which he caught two passes for 22 yards while playing 34 of 58 offensive snaps – the fourth-most among Cowboys receivers and running backs.

On Wednesday, Cooks said he was fine and added, “When I’m out there, there’s no restriction.” He missed four games with the Houston Texans last year, including three because of a calf strain.

If Cooks, acquired in a trade last March, is unable to play, the Cowboys have Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin and Jalen Brooks, who was inactive last week, in addition to CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup.

Safety Donovan Wilson, who suffered a calf strain in the first practice of training camp in July, wore full pads for the first time since January, leading to his possible return this week after missing the opener. Left defender Tyler Smith (hamstring injury) continues to work on his recovery.
