Anna Wintour hits the red carpet with Edward Enninful after reports of a “power struggle” between editors as she brings in the stars for her Vogue World show

Dame Anna Wintour gathered some of the biggest names in show business for the Vogue World Show in London on Thursday.

From supermodels Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington to Hollywood stars Jared Leto and Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, the event, which raised funds for the British performing arts industry, rivaled New York’s legendary Met Gala.

The Vogue editor-in-chief, 73, hit the red carpet alongside British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, 51, with the pair apparently keen to dismiss reports of a power struggle between the pair.

The pair appeared united as they posed for photos together and chatted to presenter AJ Odudu at the Theater Royal Drury Lane.

Anna showed off her fashion status in a floral dress and gold leather trench coat as she joined Enninful and director Baz Luhrmann on the red carpet.

Enninful is to be replaced as editor of British Vogue by London-based Chioma Nnadi.

The Mail on Sunday reported that Enninful had hoped to replace Wintour one day, but the Vogue editor-in-chief is determined to stick around and “fend off any rival like a fly.”

The party comes just three months after the shocking announcement that the former British-Ghanaian model and fashion designer would be stepping down as editor-in-chief of British Vogue after six years at the helm.

When he departs in early 2024, Enninful will take on a “global advisory role” at Vogue, “with the freedom to take on broader creative projects.”

“He made no secret of the fact that he wanted the big job.” [global editorial director] But he hit the glass ceiling and went as far as he could,” the Vogue insider explained.

“He thought he would stay in London for a few years and then go to New York, but now he knows he will never get Anna’s job at Condé Nast.

“Anna is the undisputed boss.” She has defeated many rivals and continues to do so. She could swat him like a fly.’

A fashion source put it more bluntly: “I think Edward underestimated her power.” By the time he was made editor, so much smoke had flown up his ass that he could no longer see his own pants.

The event is the idea of the Vogue editor-in-chief, but viewers watching via the YouTube livestream took to social media to admit they were stunned by the “bizarre” show.

The event was only open to the rich and famous, with a ticket costing up to £2,521.70. Outside, a more than 500-foot-long line of rowdy patrons snaked through London’s West End.

In a nod to the splendor of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, upon arrival guests were invited to drape themselves in Coach pashmina and enjoy a complimentary tequila from the bar.
