White House confirms Zelensky’s visit next week news

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also wants to visit the US capital Washington after his planned speech at the UN General Assembly in New York. A meeting with President Joe Biden and members of Congress is scheduled for Thursday to reaffirm continued US support for Ukraine, the White House confirmed today.

Several US media outlets had already reported on the plans. They were referring to government circles. “It will be the third meeting between the two and it comes at a critical time,” said Biden adviser Jake Sullivan. Biden hopes to redouble his support for Ukraine and continue to lead the world on this issue.

The Ukrainian president will use the visit to seek continued support from the United States for his country in the war against Russia. Biden and his Democrats are currently campaigning for additional aid totaling more than $20 billion (around €18.6 billion) for military, economic and humanitarian purposes.

Zelensky last visited Washington in December 2022, meeting with Biden and delivering a speech on Capitol Hill to both chambers of Congress.
