The special jury court of Brussels has sentenced 20 and 30 years imprisonment respectively Salah Abdeslam And Mohamed Abrinifound guilty Terrorist attacks on March 22, 2016 in the Belgian capital. The verdict was announced by the President of the Assize Court, Laurence Massart. For the other six defendants found guilty in July, four for murder in a terrorist context and two for terrorist involvement, the sentences are: life imprisonment for Oussama Atar in absentia (because he was dead), Osama Krayem and Bilal El Makhoukhi ; 20 years for Sofien Ayari and Ali El Haddad Asufi; 10 years for Hervé Bayingana-Muhirwa.

On March 22, 2016, two men blew themselves up in the departure lounge at Zaventem airport and a third terrorist blew themselves up an hour later in a subway at Maelbeek station. 32 people died and over 300 were injured. Three more deaths believed to be related to the explosions brought the total number of victims to 35, to which must be added the three suicide bombers. Salah Abdeslam has always denied his involvement and claimed he was in prison on the day of the events, having been arrested in Molenbeek on March 18, 2016. Nevertheless, the 34-year-old was considered to be involved in the attacks because he shared the lives of cell members in Brussels after the Paris attacks and provided “indispensable help” in the suicide attacks.
